From the Airport:

Take 28X Airport Flyer Express bus to any downtown Pittsburgh "T" subway station (Wood Street Station at intersections of Liberty Ave/Wood St/6th Ave. is easiest transfer). Follow directions from the Subway below. 28X buses generally run from 6:00 am to about midnight, 7 days (including holidays). Cost is approximately $2.00. Transfers are issued only when fare is paid, cost approximately $.25 extra, and were recommended. Travel time from airport to hostel (assuming good transit connections and traffic) is about 1 hour.

From the Greyhound bus station:

Leave the station by the main door on 10th Street. Turn left and go 30 feet to Grant Street. Turn right on Grant Street toward the big gray stone buildings.  Go 2 blocks the "T Subway"  Follow directions below.

From the Amtrak Trail station:

Leave the station by the main door on the back side of the building from 10th Street. Turn right two times to get around the building to Grant Street. Turn left on Grant Street toward the big gray stone buildings.  Go 2 blocks the "T Subway"  Follow directions below.

From any downtown "T" Subway station:

Monday – Saturday: From any downtown "T" subway station take 52 Allentown train to the top of the hill and the intersection of Arlington and Warrington Avenues. Hostel located at this intersection in the business district of Allentown. Note: Currently the 52 train does NOT operate on Sundays and holidays.

Sundays/Holidays: From any downtown "T" subway station, take subway train to South (Also M-Sa) Hills Junction Station and EITHER:

Transfer to 51A bus to hostel doorstep OR
Walk east on Warrington Avenue 10-15 minutes to hostel.
On Sundays/Holidays only, the 46K bus follows the 52 subway line (above) with service directly from along Smithfield Street in downtown Pittsburgh to our front door.

From Oakland (University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University)

Take 54C bus towards the Southside. Stay on bus to the top of hill. Get off at the beginning of Mt. Oliver business district (intersection of 18th St./Arlington Ave/Brownsville Rd). Walk uphill on Arlington Ave. (right from intersection at bus stop) about 10 minutes to the Allentown business district and hostel. The total trip takes about 1/2 to 1 hour.

Driving: (From all directions)

Follow highway signs to downtown Pittsburgh and I-376. Exit I-376 at Grant Street. Go two traffic lights and turn left onto the Blvd. of the Allies (there will be a down ramp coming in from the right).  Go two blocks and turn left onto Smithfield St. and cross the Smithfield Street Bridge. At the second traffic light after crossing the bridge turn left onto Carson Street.  Take the first right onto Arlington (sign points up and right to "Mt. Washington").  The  Pittsburgh International Hostel on Warrington was located at the top of the hill at the intersection of Arlington and Warrington.  There is a traffic light here with five streets converging. Turn left of straight  (the hostel will be on your right) and drive past the hostel ½ block to our free parking lot.
